About this course
This course is about inclusive and productive teaching and learning environments in schools. It equips participants with the awareness, knowledge and skills that can be used to understand inclusion and environmental aspects such as daylight, temperature, ventilation, and acoustics and how these can be optimised to support high-quality education. A fully interactive programme tailored to meet the audience’s requirements at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
What this course offers
The course will introduce you to the key environmental concepts in teaching and learning and provide methods that can be used to ensure these are optimised to support high-quality inclusive education.
What you will learn
The course covers the following topics.
1. Teaching and Learning Environments
Education outcomes are directly linked to the quality of teaching and learning environments. Research shows that learners in daylit and ventilated, thermally comfortable environments do much better than those in environments without these attributes. Indoor environmental quality assessments, technology and building upgrades and operational procedures can be used to proactively understand and optimise conditions for teaching and learning.
2. Inclusive Education
Inclusive education is concerned with making education accessible to all learners. This requires understanding how barriers and poorly designed and managed environments can hamper and prevent learning and teaching. Environmental access assessments, effective management procedures, technology and building upgrades can be used to address barriers and enable inclusive education.
