The School Planning and Management Assessment (SPAMA 2023) tool provides a way of assessing capacity and systems for planning and managing school buildings, grounds and equipment. Assessments are carried out by answering questions in areas such as school planning, management, teaching and learning, inclusion, energy, water, sanitation, waste, maintenance and procurement.
The report on the results in a table and spider diagram (shown above) provides an indication of the performance in the respective areas as a percentage out of 100. The tool can be used to rapidly identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in order to develop a prioritised action plan for improvement. It can be easily undertaken by school staff, governing body members, school planners and built environment professionals.
