Education infrastructure refers to the built environments, equipment and services that are used for education. It includes teaching and learning spaces, computers, and lab equipment as well as energy, water, sanitation, waste, communication, fire, and access control systems.
Education infrastructure, and its effective management, provide an enabling environment within which teaching and learning can happen.
Well-planned and managed infrastructure is essential for achieving high-quality education outcomes at all levels, including early childhood development (ECD) centres, schools, TVET colleges, universities and ongoing learning centres.
